A LHC division bench comprising Justice Sardar Sarfraz Ahmed Dogar and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural ordered the jail authorities for immediate release of PML-N Chief and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif in money laundering case.
LAHORE: (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News-April 14th, 2021) PML-N President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif has secured bail from Lahore High Court in money laundering case.
A LHC division bench comprising Justice Sarfraz Ahmed Dogar and Justice Asjad Javed Ghural passed the order on petition moved by Shehbaz Sharif. The bench granted him bail against two surety bond worth Rs 5 million.
The court directed the jail authorities for immediate release of Shehbaz Sharif.
It is a major political development and big relief for the PML-N during these testing times. Last month, Hamza Shehbaz, the son of Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly, was granted bail Chaudhary Sugar mills case.
On Wednesday, Maryam Aurangzeb and other PML-N leaders were present there inside the courts. However, as they heard that their leader was granted bail and they came out of the courtroom, some of the party workers showered Currency notes on Maryam Aurangzeb and other party leaders on premises of the LHC.
On September 28, 2020, NAB team had arrested Shehbaz Sharif in money laundering case after Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected his bail plea.
A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court comprising Justice Sardar Ahmed Naeem and Justice Farooq Haider heard the plea, during which Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer presented his arguments.
Counsel of PML-N President argued that Shehbaz Sharif saved over Rs1,000 billion of national exchequer and never received his pay as a member of National Assembly.
No evidence was available against Shehbaz Sharif in money laundering case and none of the witnesses accused PML-N leader of the ill practice, he added.
