SC Disposes Of Suo Motu Case Over ECP Members' Appointment

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday dismissed the suo motu case pertaining to dysfunctionality of Election Commission of Pakistan over appointment of provincial members. The division bench of the apex court comprising Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali and Justice Tariq Masood heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, the federation had submitted reply before the court and stated that four Election Commission members have been appointed in light of the court's directions. The report also stated that the ECP has also issued schedule for holding by-election in NA-63 Jehlum.
The Additional Advocate General has told that ECP is now functional after the recruitment of news provincial members. The court subsequently disposed of the case over the appointment of new ECP members.
