ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 4th August, 2016) : Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said Thursday Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL) would provide gas supply to 14 localities in Balochistan during the current financial year. Speaking during question hour in the National Assembly, the minister said a total of Rs 547.505 million had been allocated to provide gas under Pak MDGs Community Development Programme, adding all the projects would be completed by June, 2017. Replying to another question, the minister said government of Pakistan had imposed ban on the provision of gas to newly developed areas in the country, however, villages gasification for gas producing districts was exempted.
He said gas was being supplied in different localities under the guidelines and directives by government.
He said gas producing district villages, which were feasible under the per consumer cost criteria and respectively approved by GOP, were considered for gasification, while non-feasible were only considered after the funding was received from the government. He said both the gas utility companies had carried out surveys for providing gas to the villages falling within 5 KM radius of the gas fields.
Accordingly, he added a summary had been submitted to CCI for consideration.
