ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd August, 2016) : Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said law and order situation in Karachi had improved.
The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) wanted a stable Karachi as it was the economic hub of the country, he said while talking to a private news channel. The minister said, "Special powers should be given to the Rangers not only for Karachi but also for the entire Sindh.
Peace could only be achieved if criminals were eliminated from the whole province." He said police had failed to maintain law and order in Karachi, but the Rangers had restored peace in the city.
The Karachi operation, he said, was launched with the consensus of provincial government under the supervision of Sindh Chief Minister. An All Parties Conference (APC) was also called to remove reservations of the political parties regarding the Karachi operation, he added.
Tariq Fazal said target killings, street crimes, terror acts and extortion cases had reduced to a greater extent as the people of Karachi now felt secure in a peaceful environment. Replying to a question, he said new Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was a competent person, who, hopefully, would work for the welfare of people and maintenance of law and order in the province.
