LAHORE,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Augst,2016) : Chief Traffic Officer Tayyab Hafeez Cheema on Wednesday directed the Anti-Wheelie Squad (AWS) to collect video and other evidence against bikers, so that stern action could be taken against those violating the law.
Talking to APP, he said that a campaign had been launched to create awareness among the people about dangers posed by one-wheeler. He said the City Traffic Police (CTP) were utilising all available resources to check the trend of doing one-wheeling.
Tayyab Hafeez Cheema said that patrolling on all important thoroughfares had been started, adding that strict action against the elements involved in violating laws, would be taken. The CTO said that all traffic sector incharges had also been directed to brief the traffic wardens so that they could educate motorcyclists besides taking action against one-wheeling.
He said that traffic police high-ups had been directed to depute special squads of wardens at the busy roads across the city, including Jail Road, The Mall, Main Boulevard Gulberg, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road and Ring Road to control one-wheeling, especially on Saturday and Sunday.
"These roads are well carpeted and wide and can easily be used for the purpose of one-wheeling," he added. He said that he had directed traffic officers and circle heads to initiate stern action against one-wheelers without any discrimination and said that no one should be spared if found guilty of one-wheeling, which is causing a number of death and severe injuries to drivers.
