Dengue Vector Surveillance Data Of High Risk Districts Highlighted

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 3rd Augst,2016) : Dengue prevention and control video link conference held here and highlighted that the larvae finding activities were in full swing and sanitary patrol teams found larvae from three points in the province during monsoon season. The video link conference was held at Civil Secretariat Lahore the other day under the special instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister Muhamamd Shehbaz Sharif.

Additional Chief Secretary Punjab, Shamail Ahmad Khawaja presided over the conference which was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafiq, Provincial Secretary Local Government and Community Development Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Secretary Implementation and Coordination Firasat Iqbal, Secretary Primary & Secondary Healthcare Ali Jan Khan, DCO Lahore Muhammad Usman, In charge Chief Minister Dengue Research Cell Dr.

Muhammad Waseem, other officials as well as DCOs of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad and Multan. The conference, according to an official spokesman, reviewed in detail the weekly outdoor vector surveillance data regarding all the high risk districts as for as danger of dengue incidence is concerned in the current season of monsoon.

The conference was told that the sanitary patrol teams had detected more larvae of dengue mosquito from water ponds and the stagnant water after recent rain falls in the province and the larvae finding activities were in full swing.

Additional Chief Secretary emphasized the need to get daily dengue vigilance reports (DVRs) without any lapse and asked the provincial secretaries to join regularly the meetings of their respective towns and tehsil level emergency response committees so that preventive aspect of dengue could be monitored more comprehensively.

The conference was told that the Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had allowed the DCOs of all the five high risk districts of the province to hire Assistant Entomologists on five months contract according to need of their district. Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmad Khawaja informed the conference that Punjab Chief Minister had directed to convene video link conference on dengue control with the DCOs of five high risk districts twice a week in coming days.
