Governor For Adopting Spirit Of 'Zarb-e-Azb' Against
Corruption

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd August, 2016) : National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore on Tuesday distributed Rs 347.870 million among 557 claimants and affectees of different scams and bank cases, financial institutions and departments.
On the direction of NAB chairman, a simple ceremony was arranged here at the NAB Complex, in which Punjab Governor Malik Muhammad Rafique Rajwana was the chief guest. According to a NAB spokesman, the amount was recovered through Voluntary return/plea bargain from the accused persons involved in different cases of corruption and corrupt practices, cheating public at large, money doubling scams, illegal gratification and misuse of authority etc. Addressing the participants, the governor said that corruption and the fight against the social evil has become a global concern. Corruption is a key factor in economic under-performance and a major obstacle to poverty alleviation and development.
It is a menace which has multifaceted effects on our society as it damages our economic, social and cultural fabric.
He said: "We need to adopt a spirit of Zarb-e-Azb to eliminate corruption from society." He said that it is a very positive sign that in addition to the enforcement activities, being carried out to root out corruption, the elements of prevention and awareness have also been incorporated in the anti-corruption strategy on which NAB is working.
"The dream of a corruption-free society cannot be fulfilled without the involvement and active contribution from all sectors of society," he added. DG NAB Lahore Maj (R) Syed Burhan Ali said on the occasion that corruption is a curse which serves as breeding ground for all kinds of ills and evils which hampers the progress of a state.
