ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd August, 2016) : The work on Takht Bhai overhead bridge on Nowshehra-Chitral Highway (N-45) would be completed by end of August and its opening would facilitate the people and ensure smooth flow of traffic. An official of National Highway Authority ( NHA) told APP that its work was nearly completed and only a few beam girders were left to be placed on the pier cap. To a question, he said that Takht Bhai Flyover contract was awarded in November 28, 2012 and its work started on February 6, 2013. He said that the original contract cost was Rs.
582.124 million which was revised to Rs. 851.524 million. He said the original length of bridge was 0.225 Km which was revised to 0.600 Km.
Justifying the delay in its construction on the project, he said that the delay occurred due to the change in its original plan and design. He said that the government also considered the project of great importance as Takht Bhai flyover was a gateway to 11 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province and over 7,000,000 people would benefit from its completion. It is worth mentioning that Senate Standing Committee, had visited the site of Takht Bhai flyover in 2014 after receiving complaints from the people of the area.
After taking a briefing from National Highway Authority (NHA) and an open meeting in the presence of local people along with legislators from the area, the committee recommended changes in its design.
