Indian Police Victimizing IOK Traders For Supporting Intifada

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd Augst,2016) : Indian police is not allowing the traders in Srinagar and other areas to open their shops in a bid to victimize the traders for supporting the ongoing Kashmir Intifada, According to KMS, traders of Lal Chowk in Srinagar told media men that the police forced shopkeepers and traders in the area to down shutters on Monday, preventing them from following the pro-freedom leaders' instructions to open shops and commercial establishments after 6pm. Reports said that the police department had been directed by the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, to enforce curfew and other restrictions even after 6pm.

The action has caused resentment among the general public, particularly the shopkeepers who are decrying the highhandedness of the police. It is to mention here that Indian police had lobbed teargas shell in the main market of Bijbehara town on Sunday evening when the shopkeepers tried to open their shops after 6pm, forcing the market to close down.
