Meeting Agrees To Preliminary Design Of Rapid Bus Service Peshawar Project

PESHAWAR (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Augst,2016) : A meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister, Pervez Khattak in the chair Monday agreed to the preliminary design of Mass Transit scheme that is Rapid Bus Service for Peshawar for initial three corridors to be extendable to fifteen in future. The corridor included the central corridor starting from Chamkani towards Khyber Bazar, Dabgari garden, Cantt, Tehkal, University Town, board and Hayatabad with service areas in Karkhano market and the entire city routes.
The second corridor will be from Chamkani to the southern ring road towards Hayatabad and the Northern corridor will use the areas connecting through northern ring road. The Chief Minister also agreed to the implementation strategy for demonstration of pilot project and approved location and reserves that included Bus Terminal and planning at Sewerage at Hayatabad and ordered to prepare the hiring of professionals from the market on competitive package.
Earlier a detail presentation was given to the participants of the meeting indicating the pledged foreign investment for the project, the quality of the project, the time compression as wished by the Chief Minister and the Chief Minister agreed to overall communication strategy. Pervez Khattak in his remarks directed to recruit a Chief Executive of the project in order to facilitate the implementation and the process of implementation on the project.
The Chief Minister said that we cannot afford the wastage of time in initiating the project.
"We have set our targets despite that fact we have a lot of issues but there is no match to our commitment to integrate the entire Peshawar valley through a unique transporting system so that the congestion and the unruly vehicular traffic is controlled and let the people heave a sigh of relief".
He said that there would be separate unit for the project and he himself would monitor the project. He said, his government would talk to the quarter concerned so that the project was implemented in consonance with the people expectations.
He said that the people would have easy access and would see that their government was taking care of their interest. He also directed for construction of overhead bridge at Chamkani. The meeting was attended by Senior Minister for local government Inayatullah, Chief Secretary Amjad Ali Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Azam Khan, Special Assistant to CM on Law Arif Yousaf, administrative secretaries and Country Director, Asian Development Bank Dr.
Weiner Liepach.
