KP Governor Distributes Cheques Among Heirs Of Flood Victims

PESHAWAR,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Augst,2016) : Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra Monday visited the flood affected area Sra Shaga of Tehsil Landikotal, Khyber Agency where the flash floods triggered by monsoon rains have swept away a bus carrying a wedding party. He expressed grief and sorrow over the human loss caused by recent flood and sympathized with the affected families.
He distributed cheques of Rs. 300,000 among the heirs of each family lost its loved ones in the incident. Besides, MNA Haji Shahji Gul Afridi and Additional Chief Secretary FATA Fida Wazir were also present on this occasion.
He also went to the Sra Shaga area. Political Agent, Khyber Agency, Cap. Khalid Mehmood briefed the Governor about the flood situation, relief activities and rescue operation. The Governor directed the concerned authorities to extend all possible assistance to the affected families.
He asked the relevant officials and political administration to ensure all possible support and assistance to the affectees. The Governor KP instructed the officials and departments concerned to remain fully alert and monitor the flood situation round the clock and further directed that special safety measures should be made to avoid further flood and rains damages. Talking to the affectees, Governor said that he came here just to meet the victims and said government will help flood affectees in every possible way.
He said that the government will bear all the educational expenses of the heirs of the flood affectees. He said we stood united with the affected people in this hour of need. Talking to the media on this occasion, the Governor said that the return process of TDPs was successfully going on and 70pc of the total displaced families have been repatriated to their native homes adding that the return process of TDPs will be completed in the month of December this year.
He said under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz shareef, we are committed to maintain the peace in FATA and to ensure the dignified return and rehabilitation of TDPs adding that steps have been taken on priority to bring the tribal region into mainstream.
He said that peace has been restored not only in FATA but in the entire country due to the sacrifices and efforts of Pak army. He said whole the Nation has great regard for the security forces and held their sacrifices in high esteem, their sacrifices will never go in vain, he added.
The Governor said peace and development of country is directly linked to the sustainable peace in Federal Administered Tribal Areas. In this connection, he stated sustainable peace in FATA was the top priority of incumbent Government adding that no stone would be left unturned to maintain peace in this region.
