Efforts Of Federal Govt Appreciated For Providing Better Health Care In FATA

BAJAUR AGENCY,(UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Augst,2016) : Speakers at a conference on Monday lauded the Federal government for its efforts being made for provision of better healthcare facilities in tribal areas. The conference was arranged by a non-governmental organization (NGO) in collaboration with local health department here to review the overall condition of government hospitals and health facilities across the agency. Tribal elders, political and social activists and officials of the local administration and health department took part in the debate. They noted majority of hospitals in backward areas had been remained without proper staff and medicines for the past several years, putting negative impact over the health of the people of the region. The speakers also noted that there were only 40 healthcare units in the entire agency along with the Agency headquarters hospital Khar which according to them were insufficient to meet the treatment needs of over 1.
5 million population of the region. They demanded of the government to establish new rural health centers, basic health units and one each Tehsil headquarters hospital at all the eight Tehsils of the agency to ensure quality healthcare facilities to the people of agency. They also urged the health department to provide solar power in the hospitals to protect medicines from heat in the wake of frequent and prolonged power outages. The participants also suggested the local administration to form a monitoring committee to oversee the activities of staff in the health units across the agency.
