Independence Day Preparations Pick Up Momentum In KP

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 1st Augst,2016) : With the start of the month of August, preparations to celebrate Pakistan Independence Day has gained momentum in Khyber Pakthunkhwa and FATA. The people have started decorating their houses, bazaars and markets to express their love to their country which came into being after numerous sacrifices by their forefathers. The markets and bookstalls in most of the bazaars of Peshawar are flooded with national flags, stickers and badges.
The shopkeepers have decorated their shops with fancy lights to attract customers especially after sunset. Owners of cars, rickshaws and taxi drivers were on Monday seen buying national flags, stickers and badges carrying photos of national heroes at bookshops, stalls and markets in historic Qissa Khwani and Liaquat bazaars, besides Hasthnagri of Peshawar. A large number of youth and schoolchildren were also among the buyers, who want to celebrate the Independence Day with national zeal and fervour.
"I had sold some 20,000 stickers and badges carrying photos of heroes of Pakistan Movement during last three days," Nasir, a shopkeeper at Qisa Khwani Bazaar, told APP. Nasir said he had requisitioned 100,000 more such stickers and badgess.
People of all ages, including youth, girls and boys, were buying the stickers and badges, besides national flags to celebrate Jashn-i-Azadi in a most befitting manner. Ehtesham Khan, the student of private college, said he had bought some 1,000 stickers and badges for himself, friends and class-fellows.
"I will come to Peshawar along with my brothers and cousins to attend national flag hoisting ceremony at Malik Saeed Shaheed Police Lines on August 14," he said. He said,"Pakistan came into being after a lot of struggle and sacrifices by our forefathers under the dynamic leadership of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and it is the collective responsibility of all of us to inform children and youth about the same."
