QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 30th july, 2016) : The Balochistan Assembly on Saturday adopted resolution demanded of the government to take practical steps to end power loadshedding on permanent basis as people of the province were suffering from difficulties due to unannounced and prolonged electricity outages. Speaker Ms.
Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani presided over the assembly session. Pakistan Muslim League-N MPA Ms. Rahat Jamali moved the joint resolution of ministers Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani and Sardar Sarfaraz Domki, Advisor to Chief Minister Haji Muhammad Khan Lehri, MPAs Mir Izhar Khan Khosa, Ghulam Dastagir Badini and Muhammad Akbar Askani. The reolution said,"Several areas of Balochistan have been facing 18 to 20 hours daily power load shedding.
There is low voltage of electricity which has increased problems of people." The MNAs urged the provincial government to approach the Federal government to take steps for ending power load shedding in Balochistan. Speaking on occasion, mover Ms.
Jamali claimed that 18-hour daily power loadshedding had badly damaged the agriculture sector. Rice sowing needed water, which was not availabile due to power loadshedding, she added.
Pashtunkhawa Milli Awami Party's Syed Liaquat Ali Agha said that all districts of Balochistan had been facing power loadshedding.
Agri tube-wells could not be operated in low voltage electricity, he added. PML-N's Ghulam Dastagir Badini emphasized the need to generate electricity from coal. The province was rich in coal reserves which could help cater its need of electricity. Mir Izhar Khosa of PML-N said that Nasirabad division had been experiencing 50 Celsius temperature with prolonged power load shedding. Provincial Minister for Planning and Development, Dr.
Hamid Khan Achakzai said that WAPDA and QESCO did not pay heed to the protest of lawmakers which they recorded against prolonged power loadshedding in the province. Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation, Sheikh Jaffar Mandokhel also criticised the WAPDA for its alleged apathy towards Balochistan. Speaker Ms Durrani directed the QESCO chief to give a briefing to Balochistan Assembly members on the issue.
She put the resolution to the House which passed it unanimously.
