WAPDA Beats Navy In Opening Match Of National Volleyball

National champion WAPDA defeated Navy in the opening match of seven-match series with a score of 21-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-20 at the Government Boys High School ground Rajanpur on Tuesday
LAHORE,(APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Feb, 2018 ) :National champion WAPDA defeated Navy in the opening match of seven-match series with a score of 21-25, 25-22, 27-25, 25-20 at the Government Boys High school ground Rajanpur on Tuesday.
The series was being organized by Pakistan Volleyball Federation in collaboration with Punjab Volleyball Association to develop and promote volleyball in rural areas, said the information made available here.
The second match of the series will be played at Muzzafargarh on Wednesday. The match attracted a large crowd for whom it was a life time chance to watch their volleyball heroes in action. The spectators applauded the players who amused them with their powerful smashes, excellent boosting and effective blocking.
Though Navy won the first set 25-21 through their stars brilliant performance of Abuzr and Wasit yet they could not maintain their tempo in the second set which Wapda won amid accurate placement of smashes by Asif and Kashif.
Mohib of Wapda effectively blocked Abuzr's smashes who looked struggling in the second set because of shoulder pain. However, the Navy players made wrong serves in the third set and finally succumbed to the pressure applied by their opponents in the fourth set.
After the match the Chairman District Council Sardar Ahmed Dereshak announced a cash prize of Rs 100,000 for the players of both teams.
