Uzair Shoukat Wins Abdul Sattar Edhi Memorial Junior Squash Title

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd july,2016) : Uzair Shoukat clinched the trophy after recording victory against Ahmad Hassan in the Under-15 category final of Abdul Sattar Edhi Memorial Junior Squash Championship played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex on Friday. Base Commander Peshawar Base Air Commodore Irfan Raza was the chief guest on the occasion and witnessed the thrilling final.
Former World Champion Qamar Zaman, Director PAF sports board Control Committee Group Captain Asghar Awan, squash spectators and players were also present. The final match was started on a slow note as both Uzair Shoukat and Ahmad Hassan were tied thrice in the set at 4-4, 8-8, and 9-all before Ahmad Hassan got the set at 9-11.
Ahmad Hassan and Uzair Shoukat, are good upcoming players, who gave each other a tough fight. It was in the second set when Uzair Shoukat staged a comeback and won it at 11-8. Uzair Shoukat played well and did not give much time to Ahmad Hassan to strike back.
Uzair has full command over his nick and drop shorts while some beautiful length and cross-court smashes were also witnessed.
After 1-1, Uzair Shoukat did not look behind and marched into victory at 11-9 and 11-6.
Ahmad Hassan did some resistance but overall Uzair Shoukat dominated with his excellent display. In the Under-11 final Muhammad Ammad defeated Abbas Nawaz in another thrilling final. Abbas Nawaz got the first set but did not stand in front of Muhammad Ammad and won the battle by 8-11, 11-9, 11-7 and 11-7.
In the Under-11 category Ibrahim Mohib of PSB Mohib Ullah Khan academy also exhibited good result and reached to the semi-finals by taking third positive overall. In the Under-13 category final top seed Asad Ullah defeated Noor Zaman by 3-1.Both Asad Ullah, who entered as No.
1 seed and Noor Zaman as second seed, exhibited excellent display. The score was 10-12, 11-7, 11-9 and 11-6. At the end, the chief guest Base Commander Peshawar Air Commodore Irfan Raza gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. A cash prize of Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 distributed among the winners, runners and semi-finals respectively.
