PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 03rd Feb, 2018 ) :Open trials to select teams for the 3rd edition of the most awaited Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Games will be kicking off from February 6-22, 2018.
This was stated by District sports Officer Jamshed Baloch while talking to APP soon after chairing a meeting of the female games management committee here at Games District Headquarter Office Tehmas Khan Football Stadium on Saturday.
Ex-international athlete and SAF Games bronze medalist Muhammad Shah, Deputy Director Higher education Department KP Abdur Rashid Anwar, female officials of the Management Committee comprising Miss Rahid Bibi, Miss Nadia Chamkani, Miss Andaleeb, Mrs.
Gul Sanobar, Miss Sara, Miss Sadia, Miss Uzma, Miss Roheena, Miss Najma Qazi and Female Coordinator Miss Nargis were also present. The Management Committee of the Games, he said, discussed in detail ways and means for the smooth conduct of holding open trials, short-listed probables on merits and enlisted all the selected players through a set database.
Jamshed Baloch said that they have introduced one-play-one-game policy so that to change the trend of players playing in different games. 'We want to involve maximum number of players so that they could explore their hidden talent through the 3rd edition of the Under-23 Games,' he added.
He said a total of 154 female players of the Peshawar District alongside 44 officials would be short-listed in 13 different disciplines comprising hockey, cricket, netball, basketball, volleyball, squash, badminton, table tennis, baseball, handball, tug-of-war, judo and athletic.
He said the trials dates, venues and the Names of the selection committees have already been finalized and now it up to the players to come and actively participate in the open trials. He said Director Sports Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Maria Samin will head the baseball games and will hold the trials in Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University premises on February 6-8, 2017.
The trials of the squash will be held on February 15 at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex, Handball trials will be held 9-10, 2-2018. Jamshed Baloch said the trials of the Netball will be organized at FG College ground on February 15-16, 2018 at 9.00 a.m under the aegis of Nadia Chamkani, followed by basketball (Feb 15) at Frontier College Women at 9.00 a.m, cricket on February 19-21, 2018 at Frontier College ground, volleyball trials on February 16 at Bacha Khan Degree College, hockey at Frontier College for Women on Feb 16 at 9.00 am to 1.00 pm, badminton at Qayyum Sports Complex on 19-20 at 9.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m, table tennis at Frontier College for Women on February 15 in the morning, tug of war, athletic and judo at FCW on February 22.
The trials of the female athletic will be held in 100m, 200m, 400m, long jump, javelin throw, shot put and discus throw. The trials of the female judo will be organized in different weight categories comprising -40kg, -44kg , -48kg, -52kg, -56kg, -60kg, -65kg and +70kg.
He said a complaint cell has also been established where the players can register complaints about the trials. 'We want to give full chance to everyone to come and be part of the Games,' Jamshed Baloch added.
