Team Aces Earn Right To Present Country In Dubai Bridge Event

LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Feb, 2017 ) - Team Aces defeated Team Bilal in the final showdown here on Wednesday and earned the right to represent country the country in the 19th BFAME (Bridge Federation of Asia and middle East) Bridge Championship due to be held in Dubai in April this year.
After a series of trials which brought honour and tidings for team Aces prevailed over Team Bilal with a high quality display of bridge at Lahore Gymkhana club. The victorious team comprising top of the line bridge stalwarts like Ahsan Javed Qureshi,Ghias A.Malik,Nauman Butt, Zia Hyder Naqvi, Muhammed Mubashir Puri and Junaid Said triumphed over Team Bilal after lot of ups and downs during the course of the four final qualifying rounds.
They will also represent the country subsequently at the 43rd Bermuda Bowl Championship and also at the 11th Transnational Open Teams in France during this year. Team Bilal consisting of top notch players like Gulzar Ahmad Bilal,Farrukh Liaqat,Imran Abedi and Parvez Mirza did manage to gain a lead of 23 points in the second round after inflicting a crushing blow to the winning march of Team Aces but then consistency and brilliance on the part of Aces helped them to reduce the margin in the third round and in the last round mastered the run of play with outstanding team work.
And at the end of the trials, the captain of Aces Team, Nauman Butt stated that the victory can easily be attributed to the combined team efforts. He further said: "We will prepare ourselves devotedly for the international events with the help and guidance of our coach Junaid Said", Junaid Said is also a team member.
Earlier in the Ladies section, the team playing under the banner of OUTSIDERS and comprising of experienced and adept bridge playing ladies like Rehana Saigol,Poro Raza,Qudsia Dossa,Roshan Bokhari,Shahnaz Pirzada and Goga Saeed Akhter won the right to represent the country at international championships.
The trials for the seniors bridge team will be held over the next two days. These trials were conducted under the supervision of Ihsan Qadir and Muhammed Saim Siddiqui from Karachi Bridge Association was the official scorer.
