Sydney, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Nov, 2017 ) :Melbourne is set to host the rugby league's World Club Challenge between home team Storm and English Super League Leeds Rhinos in February next year, Australian officials said Tuesday.
The game, to be held on February 16, will mark just the third time Australia has hosted the showcase event. It is also the first time the Rhinos have contested the Challenge outside Britain. It will be the fourth clash between the two clubs in the World Club Challenge and their chief executives said they were looking forward to the contest.
"Winning the WCC is the ultimate achievement for all Super League and NRL teams and we are excited to be coming to Melbourne to take on the best club team I have seen," Rhinos' chief executive Gary Hetherington said.
"Each of the other three games in Leeds have been terrific contests and coming to Melbourne represents our biggest-ever challenge. A victory would be the pinnacle in our club's 128-year history." Storm, the current National Rugby League champions, won two of the Challenge encounters with the Rhinos in 2010 and 2013.
