PU Wins Team Trophy In National Sports Competitions

Teams of the Punjab University in universities/ colleges category and Wapda Boys School Shalamar in schools category clinched team trophies in National Sports Competitions 2017
LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 15th Dec, 2017 ) :Teams of the Punjab University in universities/ colleges category and Wapda Boys school Shalamar in schools category clinched team trophies in National Sports Competitions 2017, jointly organised by the Punjab University, Higher education Commission of Pakistan and The Educationist here at the Punjab university New Campus ground on Friday.
In the universities category, University of Management and Technology stood 2nd while Akhwan Science College Barki got 3rd position. In schools category, Government High School No.2 Gujrat and Government High School Pattoki obtained 2nd and 3rd positions, respectively.
The team trophy winners also received cash prize of one hundred thousand rupees and the second position holders received fifty thousand rupees cash prizes. Punjab University provided special prize of rupees twenty thousand for special children of Hamza Foundation.
The prize distribution ceremony was organized at New Campus Gymnasium and PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir, Chief Editor The Educationist Prof Dr Shafiq Jullandhry, senior analysts Prof Dr Mujahid Mansoori, Afzal Rehan, NAB Punjab Director Major (r) Ghulam Rasool, HEC Director Sports Faisal Butt, PU Director Sports Zafar Iqbal Butt, Editor The Educationist Shabbir Sarwar, Director External Relations AR Sajid and a large number of players from Punjab, AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, KPK participated in the event.
Addressing the ceremony, PU VC Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir said that sports taught us discipline and lesson of winning and losing. He said that there was need to promote national unity through such events and PU would continue to organize such sports competitions.
He said that our sportsmen must play their role to promote positive image of Pakistan and keep our country's flag high. He appreciated Shabbir Sarwar for organising sports competitions and said that he and his team had worked very hard to organize the competition on such a large scale successfully.
Shabbir Sarwar thanked PU VC Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir and HEC Chairman Prof Dr Mukhtar Ahmed for extending support for organising sports competitions at national level. Later, the PU VC distributed cash prizes, certificates, trophies and shields among the winning teams and organizers.
More than one thousand players of 113 teams from different parts of country participated in the sports competitions.
