Corps Commander Peshawar Assures Development Sports Infrastructure In FATA

Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Nazir Ahmad Butt Friday said that development of sports infrastructure had been included in the ongoing rehabilitation work under the supervision of Pakistan Army in FATA and FATA Olympic Association would be taken on board in this connection
PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 02nd Feb, 2018 ) :Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Nazir Ahmad Butt Friday said that development of sports infrastructure had been included in the ongoing rehabilitation work under the supervision of Pakistan Army in FATA and FATA Olympic Association would be taken on board in this connection.
The assurance in that connection was given when a two-member delegation comprising President FATA Olympic Association (FOA) Shahid Khan Shinwari and Squash Legend MohibUllah Khan called on Corps Commander here at Corps Headquarters Peshawar and discussed in detail ways and means for promotion of healthy sports activities in FATA.
The delegation apprised Commander Peshawar Corps that over the years the players of FATA have excelled in sports at national and international levels and if provided due facilities of playing field in tribal areas they could achieve name and fame for the motherland.
The activity was actually based on to achieve inspirational purpose so that the youth could be motivated to come and participate actively in sports, he added. He said construction work is in progress of Sports Stadium at scenic Tira Valley.
He agreed that Landikotal Tehsil, Khyber Agency has been producing international players in Football, Volleyball, Baseball, cricket, Martial Arts and other games etc. so an international standard Sports Complex should be developed in Landikotal Tehsil.
Corps Commander Peshawar asked the delegation to submit a detail plan for the development of sports in FATA and assured that such plan would be included on priority basis.
The Corps Commander Peshawar also asked President FOA to organize a mini-Olympic under the supervision of Pakistan Olympic Association (POA).
He said recently President POA Lt. Gen. Arif Hassan called on him and I assured him that all resources would be utilized for the betterment of FATA youth. He said, squash courts in every Agency would be developed or upgraded so that the youth of FATA could also enjoying playing squash with other games as well.
Shahid Khan said that Pakistan Army played a key role in bringing peace to the area and requested to do so in the field of sports so that the youth of FATA could come up at national and international levels.
He said that FATA youth is 46 percent of the total FATA population so need of the hour is to facilitate them so that they should be safeguarded from going into wrong hands. Squash legend Mohib Ullah said that with grace of Allah Almighty, the Pakistan Army have saved people of FATA by rendering matchless sacrifices in the war against militants.
Corps Commander appreciated Shahid Khan Shinwari for the promotion of healthy sports activities in FATA and expressed the hope that squash legends would also extend a helping hands for promotion of sports activities particularly squash in FATA. Mohib Ullah Khan assured Corps Commander Peshawar his services for the promotion of sports in FATA.
