Civil Quarters Seniors Wins Pakistan Day Hockey Title

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Mar, 2017 ) : Civil Quarters Senior recorded victory against Bana Mari Club in the hockey match played in connection with the Pakistan Day celebration here at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium on Friday.
Former Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Senior Vice President of Pakistan Hockey Federation Muhammad Saeed Khan was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the match the players of both the teams were introduced to him.
Organizing Secretary and Member of the PHF Congress Syed Zahir Shah, President Peshawar District Hockey Association Haji Hidayat Ullah Khan, officials, players and spectators were also present.
The opening ceremony was started with the recitation from Holy Quran by Junaid Khan, followed by National Anthem. The players of both Civil Quarters Seniors and Bana Marri Club presented national anthem.
Soon after the national anthem, the match was started on fast tempo. It was Bana Marri which got the lead in the 6th minute through right winger Irfan on the field attempt and Faisal doubled the lead through a superb penalty corner conversion.
Taking 2-0 lead, Bana Marri put in more pressure on the Civil Quarters defence but failed to score any more goals.
It was in the 17th minute when Civil Quarters Senior�s full-back Zahid Ullah sounded the board with his forceful hit on the penalty corner conversion.
A minute later Sami Ullah, the inside left, succeeded in leveling the tally 2-2. When both the teams were locked 2-2, they raided on each other defence with some fine attacking inroads but no team could score any goal.
At half-time both were locked 2-2. It was the second session in which Civil Quarters Seniors team made some good attacking moves. It was in the 56th minute when Sami Ullah was wrongly intercepted by deep defender of Bana Marri and referee Haroon of PAF awarded a penalty corner to Civil Quarters which was nicely taken by Zahid Ullah.
Zahid saw his dragging push into the right corner. Bana Marri players tried their hard to level the tally but failed and thus Civil Quarters Seniors won the match by 3-2. Haroon Khan and Amir Hamza of PAF supervised the match. At the end, the chief guest gave away trophies and cash prizes. The winner teams awarded Rs. 10,000 cash prize and the runners-up team got Rs. 5000. APP/ijz/rn
