Chief Minister Gold Cup Women Hockey Tournament

LAHORE, Mar 8 (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 08th Mar, 2017 ) : The 5th edition of Punjab Chief Minister Gold Cup women hockey tournament will be played here from April 10-17 at the National hockey stadium.

Country's top hockey teams will be vying for top honours in the event which will help in further promoting hockey among women�, said Parveen Sikandar Gill, organizing secretary of the tournament while talking to APP on Wednesday.

She said nine teams from different regions of the Punjab and one team each from four provinces and Islamabad will feature in the tournament. The prime objective of this event is to give maximum exposure to the regional teams and to provide them an equal opportunity to play alongside provincial teams, she added.

She said Pakistan Hockey Federation has granted permission to organise the competition which will supplement the efforts of PHF women win to revive the game at grass root level. There are lesser activities for the regional teams to compete in high profile domestic hockey events and we are confident the participation of regional players will add to their experience and exposure,she added.

She said various committees will be formed soon for the smooth conduct of the event.
