LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Nov, 2017 ) :A four-day Allama Iqbal Inter-club Hockey Tournament started at the Unique Hockey Club ground Chennab Block Allama Iqbal Town here on Wednesday.
Eight hockey clubs are taking part in the tourney. Olympians Wasim Ahmed, Khawaja Junaid, Khalid Bashir, Col (Retd) Mohsin and Mian Rehan Saleem inaugurated the tournament. The tournament will be played on league-system and top two team will play the final on November 25 (Saturday).
On the opening day, two matches were played. In the first match Rana Zaheer Hockey academy beat Youngster Hockey Club by 3 goals to 1 while the second match of the day between Unique Hockey Club and Amritsar Hockey Club ended in a 3-3 draw.
Speaking on the occasion, Olympian Waseem Ahmed lauded the efforts of Unique Hockey Club and congratulated President Naeem Khan Niazi and Secretary Habib Azher for efforts to revive hockey in the country. Two matches will be played on the second day November 23 (Thursday) between Noble HC and Amritsar HC and Rana Zaheer Academy and Pak Hero Hockey Club.
