SBBWU, Abbottabad To Clash In 3rd Mrs. Saad Shaheed Women T20 Cricket Final

PESHAWAR, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Nov, 2017 ) :Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University and Abbottabad to clash in the final of the ongoing 3rd Mrs. Saad Shaheed Twenty20 Cricket Gold Cup being played here at University Campus ground on Thursday.
Both Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University team and Abbottabad faced tough resistance against their respective rivals in the semi-finals. Sania Saeed, Assistant Registrar Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University was the chief guest on this occasion.
Director sports SBBWU Maria Samin, Secretary General AIPs Asia Amjad Aziz Malik, Pakistan Cricket board Level-III coach and international female cricket umpire Hajra Sarwar and large number of enthusiastic spectators witnessed the two thrilling semi-finals.
In the first semi-final match SBBWU defeated Charsadda by five wickets. Charsadda, a team scored the highest total of 167 in the quarter-final against Peshawar White team, only made 85 runs. SBBWU bowlers bowl well and did not let the Charsadda batters to strike.
Alishba made an elegant knock of 30 runs with five boundaries, Azeema scored 21 runs with three boundaries and Mehtab struck 15 runs with three boundaries. For Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University right-arm medium fast bowler Laiba Khan claimed three wickets, Nousheen and Hira got two wickets each.
In reply, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University chased the target for the loss of five wickets with star of the batting line up was Nousheed who smashed a cracking 41 runs off 21 balls with five boundaries and two towering sixes.
Sana Liaqat made 22 runs with two sixes and Laiba scored 15 with two boundaries were the other high runs contributors.
Thus SBBWU won the match by five wickets and moved to the semi-finals. In the second semi-final match Abbottabad stunned strong Mardan by six wickets.
Century maker Aysha failed to click this time and only made four runs before Kiran got her bowled out on her excellent pace. Mardan skipper won the toss and elected to bat first by setup up 92 runs target for the loss of all wickets after playing 18.3 overs.
Madia smashed a superb knock of 32 runs with three towering sixes and two boundaries. Kainat Khan scored another vital 30 runs with five boundaries and Zainab scored 18 runs with three boundaries were the other high runs takers.
For Abbottabad Salma was the pick of the pack who claimed three wickets for 18 runs her three overs spell, Alisha and Kiran got two wickets each for 19 and 21 runs respectively in their three overs spell each.
In reply, Abbottabad chased the target for the loss of four wickets and won the match by six wickets. Rubab was the main contributor who struck a superb unbeaten knock of 45 runs laced with seven boundaries and two sixes.
Mona was the other key score who scored 26 runs with three boundaries and one six. For Mardan Sabna claimed three wickets for just 17 runs in her three overs spell while Fakra got one wicket. With this victory Abbottabad moved to the final.
The final will be played on Friday. Director General Youth Asfandyar Khan Khattak, DG Sports Junaid Khan, Vice Chancellor Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Professor Dr. Razia Sultana will grace the occasion as chief guest.
