Punjab Bar Sindh From Going Into Finals

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 28th Apr, 2017 ) : Punjab sealed its first victory on Thursday in the Pakistan Cup One Day by 40 runs over Sindh at Pindi Stadium Rawalpindi and also brushed aside Anwar Ali's team chances of moving in the tournament's final.
The final will be played between Balochistan and Federal Areas on Saturday at 3 pm. After winning the toss Sindh put Punjab into bat where they posted a mammoth total of 337 runs in 50 overs for the loss of nine wickets.
Umar Amin played the captains innings smashing 111 runs off 99 balls including 7 fours and as many as sixes while Bilal Asif scored 55 runs off 42 balls hitting a four and four sixes. Skipper Umar Akmal (36), Khushdil Shah (32), Fahim Ashraf (30) and Salman Butt (20) also played well.
For Sindh, Mir Hamza and Rumman Raees bagged four and three wickets for 70 and 46 runs, respectively. Usama Mir and Asif Zakir took one wicket each for 55 and 17 runs, respectively.
In reply, Sindh batsmen fell 40 runs short and all went to the pavilion on 297 runs in 47.4 overs.
Akbar ur Rehman made 83 runs off 92 balls including 6 fours and 2 sixes while Muhammad Nawaz (37), Saif Badar (38), Fawad Alam (32), Khurram Manzoor (24) and Mir Hamza (20 not out) batted well. For Punjab Fahim Ashraf was the pick of the bowlers as he took five wickets for 45 runs.
Umar Amin was declared man of the match.
