LAHORE, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Sep, 2017 ) - World XI captain Faf du Plessis said better planning and responsible batting of the team led them to victory in the second T20 international match of the independence cup series here on Wednesday night at Gadaffi stadium.
He gave credit of his teams seven wicket win to opener Hashim Amla and man of the match Thisara Perera and said both of them batted to a higher level. "Hashim deserves praise for his good batting and Perera's stroke play gave final touches to the victory," he said in his post match comments.
World XI captain said they were disappointed after losing the first game and came up with better planning to beat the home side in the second match. "Playing conditions were good and things went our way in today's match and hopefully we will get the similar conditions to put up another good show," he added.
Pakistani captain expressed his disappointment for losing the match saying there were flaws in fielding and bowlers lacked in bowling.
He defended the 174 total of the home side saying it was a good total and batsmen did their job in a good manner but bowlers failed to keep the World XI under pressure.
"We will be sitting back and looking into our mistakes to draw a match plan to counter the opposition in the last game," he said adding "The third match is of greater importance for us and we will be going all out to strike a victory to win the series." Thisara Perera expressed his delight to lead the World XI to success by playing a responsible knock.
"I am very happy to play my part in the match and I got good help from Hashim Amla who batted with responsibility and together we achieved the target." To a question, he said, he is honoured to be a part of the World XI which is touring Pakistan for a good cause of bringing back international cricket to Pakistan.
"Series stands leveled at 1-1 and we look forward to an exciting game," he said.
