ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Nov, 2017 ) :Veteran film and television actor Qavi Khan turned 85 on Monday. Qavi Khan born on November 13,1935 was raised in Peshawar. He started working, at a young age, at Radio Pakistan, Peshawar as a child actor.His family later moved to Lahore.

In 1964, he went to work for Pakistan Television Corporation when tv broadcasting first started in Lahore, Pakistan, being one of the first actors of ptv.[ He started his film career in 1965. Qavi is well known for his PTV's (1984-1985 television season) police drama serial Andhera Ujala which launched him to stardom alongside his fellow actors such as Irfan Khoosat and the late Jamil Fakhri.Qavi has acted in over 200 films and countless television plays.

Some of his films Mohabbat Zindagi Hai,Society Girl,Chan Suraj,Sarfarosh,Kalay Chor,Zameen Aasman,International Luteray,Wrong No,Mehrunisa V Lub U,and Pari. Some of his famous television plays include Andhera Ujala,Do Qadam Door Thay,Lahori Gate,Mutthi Bhar Mitti,Mannchalay ka Sauda,Meray Qatil Meray Dildar,Phir Chand Pe Dastak,Durr-e-Shahwar, Zindagi Dhoop Tum Ghana Saya,Baityaan Dastaan,Aik Nayee Cinderella,Meri Behan Meri Dewrani,Sadqay Tumhare,Tum Kon Piya and Saheliyan and Nazr-e-Bad and Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

He was awarded Pride of Performance Award 1980 and three Nigar Award for Best Supporting Actor for films Bahu Rani,Aaj Aur Kal and Parakh in 1969,1976 and 1976 respectively.
