ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Nov, 2017 ) :UK-based Pakistan first Opera Singer Saira Peter has delivered an academic lecture on Sufi Opera to US music students at Bethel University, USA.

Sufism is an important part of the Pakistani culture.

Sufi poets such as Bulleh Shah and Shah Abdul Lateef Bhittai have woven beautiful messages of peace and love in their poetry and I wanted to bring this tradition to the West in their own musical language,said a statement issued here on Friday.

Saira is also the director of the Noor Jahan Centre in London, which has promoted Pakistani music and culture in London since 1998. Having performed across multiple continents, Saira Peter hails from Karachi but living in London.

Combining eastern and western classical styles in her music Saira's passion is to use her unique vocal accomplishments to bring together people of different faiths and ethnicity, celebrating spiritual values together, in peace.
