Renowned actor and Director General Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Syed Jamal Shah said that it is really very sad news of her sad demise for her fans in Pakistan and other parts of the world.

Jamal Shah said that "Madeeha Gauhar was a talented performer who served theatre with passion and commitment". Former Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr. Fouzia Saeed, Naheem Tahir, Ali Tahir, Folk Singer Fazal Jutt and Laila Jutt paid rich tribute to the services and contributions of Madeeha Gohar and expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of renowned artist.

Madeeha Gohar founded Ajoka Theatre in 1984 as part of her commitment to theatre for social change.

Ajoka has performed in various countries across Asia and Europe and has also staged productions in backyards and open spaces in poor localities to raise awareness.

In 2006, Madeeha became the first Pakistani to be honoured with the prestigious Prince Claus Award for her leadership of Ajoka. The award was given to her by Ambassador of Netherlands Willem Andreae.

She was also nominated for the Nobel Peace prize from Pakistan in 2005. Madeeha was married to veteran writer and director Shahid Nadeem and was the elder sister of renowened actress Faryal Gauhar. Her daughter, Savera Nadeem, is also an actress, director, and producer. She is survived by her husband, veteran writer and director Shahid Nadeem and two sons, Sarang and Nirvaan.
