I hope one day I’m not asked about India-Pakistan: Mahira Khan

Says globally, when we interact with each other at such international festivals, we learn that there are not a lot of differences

Islamabad (Pakistan Point News – 24th May, 2018) Pakistani actress Mahira Khan attended the International Cannes Film Festival, 2018 and she literally just killed it there.

The actress got a huge applaud at home and abroad over how beautifully the actress represented Pakistan at the festival. Bridging the gap between the two hostile neighbors – India and Pakistan – at the French Riviera, Mahira met several Bollywood celebrities, including Sonam Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai, at the fest and shared love with them.

Following Cannes, Mahira gave an interview to India Today and said that Indians and Pakistanis are much more similar than they are different.

Mahira was asked about tensions between India and Pakistan and how the two can get rid of the obstacles and come together, as Pakistani artists are banned in India but still bonding with Bollywood celebrities abroad.

To this she replied, “Art lessens differences – whether they are created through history or politics. By way of art, we start realizing that we – Indians and Pakistanis – are much more similar than we are different.”

“Since there are barely any differences between our people, I feel that we should still collaborate when it comes to films and music,” the actress said in her interview to India Today.

Mahira also said that she received the warmest hug from Aishwarya Rai at Cannes. “Globally, when we interact with each other at such international festivals, we learn that there are not a lot of differences,” she said.

Finally getting annoyed at the India-Pakistan questions, she said, “India-Pakistan is STILL India-Pakistan. I hope that one day, you don’t ask this question. I hope one day, I’m not asked ‘What would happen about India-Pakistan’?”

Pakistani actress Mahira Khan and Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor were seen sharing love at Cannes as they shared a picture where Sonam kisses Mahira right before walking the red carpet of Cannes.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival began on May 8 and ended May 19. Cannes Film Festival is among the biggest film festivals in the world and attending this event is an honor for any actor. Celebrities from around the world gather at International Cannes Film Festival. Makeup giant L’Oreal is a part of this festival since past two decades, aimed at joining beauty with cinema.

This time around, Mahira represented Pakistan as the brand ambassador of L’Oreal Paris hair. The Pakistani actress was seen among Bollywood divas Deepika Padukone, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor along with other Hollywood celebrities at Cannes red carpet.

In her final note while departing from Cannes, she said that she felt more empowered than ever before.
