ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Nov, 2017 ) :The members of Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Wednesday took serious notice of the growing incidents of violence against women in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) province saying the insult to the injury occurs when the law enforcement agencies and the KP government shows tardiness towards such matters.
WPC Secretary, MNA Shaista Pervaiz Malik, in a statement issued here said the KP government showed in-apathy towards such matters that tend to perpetuate women's disadvantageous position, eliminate their self esteem and create major barrier for their women's access to justice.
This also demonstrates the entrenched societal mindsets amongst those at the helm of affairs. She was referring to the two recent incidents occurring in Districts Tank and D.I.Khan that are yet to be taken seriously and dealt with iron hand by the concerned authorities said a press release issued here.
Shaista Pervaiz Malik urged the government of KP to look into the two matters earnestly and to carry out the investigative process in a manner that no loose ends are left for the perpetrators in wriggling out of it.
She showed great concern with in respect to the D.I.Khan incident whereby an FIR has been lodged against the perpetrators of girl stripping in DI Khan under sections 354, 342, 148 and 149 of PPC while ignoring section 354-A, the clause which makes the offense non-bailable and non- compoundable.
Secretary WPC said that she and all members of the WPC are shocked at such a response by the law enforcement as such heinous crimes need to be handled sternly. While ,laying stressed on the the need to give exemplary punishment to the perpetrators for their crime and provide justice to the victims without any further delay, Shaista Malik urged the concerned law enforcement to ensure arrest of the main culprit at the earliest and to include S.
345-A in the FIR.
