TEVTA Targets To Recruit 65,000 Apprentices By December 2016:

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th july,2016) :Technical education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) would achieve the target to recruit 65,000 apprentices by December this year, Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said.
Addressing a meeting to review the progress of Apprenticeship Training Scheme, he said TEVTA has already achieved the target to recruit 28,000 apprentices by December 2015.The number of enrollment of apprentices is constantly growing.
The strength of apprentices has now reached to 41,574.The strength of apprentices was 14,018 by June, 2015. He said TEVTA is endeavoring to promote apprenticeship training scheme across Punjab.
Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said that now the apprenticeship scheme has been made more flexible to give maximum benefit to our youth. The summary for age relaxation to the apprentices up to the age of 28 years has already been approved by the Chief Minister, Punjab, he said adding that it will help combating the menace of unemployment.
By the end of December 2016, more than 20,000 trainees would be enrolled as apprentices in different industries of Punjab. Chairperson TEVTA said that efforts are being carried out to bring the maximum number of industries under the purview of Apprenticeship Ordinance, 1962.
So far 1985 industries have been notified for implementation of apprenticeship scheme, whereas 100 new industries are under process of issuing notifications. TEVTA is also organizing seminars, skill competitions, employers' days and school student's awareness programs for dissemination of the Apprenticeship Training Scheme, he concluded. The meeting was attended by TEVTA Officers Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Amir Aziz, Umer Farooq, Maqsood Ahmed, Waheed Asghar, Sarfraz Anwar and others here yesterday at TEVTA Secretariat.
