Sindh University Observes Earth Day

HYDERABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Apr, 2017 ) : The faculty, students and officers of University of Sindh Jamshoro observed the World Health Day by planting around 200 saplings in different parts of Allama I.I.
Kazi Campus on Friday. Prior to plan saplings, the faculty, students and officers brought out a big rally jointly led by the Registrar Dr Muhammad Saleem Chandio and the Chairman of Department of Geography Prof.
Muheb Ali Leghari. The Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Fateh Muhammad Burfat in his message read out by the Registrar has appealed to the students also to grow trees in their houses adding that every day should be treated as earth day in order to protect the environment.
He said youth should be encouraged to play their role in dealing with environmental challenges like deforestation, pollution and water scarcity.
The Chairman of Department of Geography Prof. Muheb Ali Leghari said that the event aimed to increase awareness among students and the general public about environmental safety.
He said the theme of the event was "green cities", which focused on renewable energy, energy efficient buildings and environment friendly transportation. He said that helping the environment should be a more regular activity.
"Such activities should not be limited to one day but should be all year round," he said. Professor of Physical education Department Dr Mahmood-ul-Hassan Mughal said that plantation drives must be carried out in all schools, colleges and universities like that of Sindh University so that environmental awareness could be raised among students.
