Shaheed Benazir Bhutto BTC To Be Completed This Year

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Sep, 2017 ) : The Workers Welfare Fund (WWF), an attached department of Ministry of Overseas Pakistan and Human Resource Development has established 60 bedded Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Burns and Trauma Center (BTC) in Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar at the cost of Rs 711 million.
Deputy Director WWF, Rana Muhammad Arsalan told APP here Thursday that the BTC had capacity of 40 beds for Trauma cases while 20 beds for burn patients and having no reconstructive surgery unit adding this Trauma Center would be remain affiliated with Hayatabad Medical Complex and the land was provided by the provincial government.
He said that an other BTC would be established at Bolan Hospital Balochistan which would be consisted 30 beds including 10 beds for Burn and 20 beds trauma. Rana Arsalan said that as per Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) the provincial health department shall take over the building along with equipments on completion of the project and all the recurring and operationalization cost shall be borne by the provincial government.
There are burn centers at CMH Kharian, NESCOM Islamabad and POF Wah, where mostly beneficiaries are defence personnel and only those civilian patients who can afford heavy expenses of treatment.
He further said that KPK was facing shortage of fully equipped burn care center facility whereas on the other hand, the province had to deal with the patients affected from bom blasts as well as chemical electrical, fireworks, hot liquids flames, radiant heat, direct contact with hot solids, electricity or electromagnetic nuclear radiations burns.
He said that it was also mentioned in the MoU that free treatment shall be offered to all the entitled industrial and mine workers of the province moreover as per request of KPK 10 beds had been earmarked for workers, in case of emergency, the HMC authorities would provide beds as required by WWB.
He said that USAID would provide all the equipment for BTC and Workers Welfare board Peshawar will look after it. To a question he said that WWF also launching various programme for education in Sindh province for the children of workers.
