SC Refers Hamid Saeed Kazmi's Plea Seeking Suspension Of Sentence To

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Feb, 2017 ) : The Supreme Court on Monday referred former Minister for Religious Affairs Hamid Saeed Kazmi's appeal seeking suspension of sentence to the high court with direction to fix the matter in 15 days.
A division bench of the apex court headed by Justice Amir Hani Muslim heard the case filed by the former Minister for Religious Affairs seeking suspension of sentence in Hajj corruption case. The bench remarked that if the concerned high court could not decide the matter in 15 days then the accused's bail plea would be considered.
If counsel of convict filed application for adjournment then the apex court order would not remain effective, the bench remarked.
Sardar Latif Khosa counsel for Hamid Saeed Kazmi appeared before the bench and informed that five accused were nominated in the case and three accused were convicted while two accused were acquitted.
He said that his client was awarded six years sentence. He pleaded the court to suspend his client's sentence. Chaudhry Azhar Special Prosecutor FIA opposed suspension of sentence and said that the accused was involved in heinous crime as they looted the Hajj pilgrims.
The court after hearing arguments referred the case back to Islamabad High Court and directed to fix the matter for hearing in 15 days.
