SC Acquits Two Life Sentence Convicts

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Aug, 2017 ) : The Supreme Court on Friday acquitted two life sentence convicts after 12 years giving them the benefit of doubt. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa heard the case.

It is to mention that accused Ijaz Ahmad and Shahid Iqbal were held over alleged killing of Mohsin in 2005. The trial court awarded death sentence which was later converted into life imprisonment by the high court.

Later both accused filed petition in the Supreme Court against the high court order. During the course of proceedings, Advocate Abdul Haq counsel for accused appeared before the court and informed that the prosecution failed to prove the case against his clients as it failed to provide any solid evidence in the trial court.

He pleaded the court to acquit his clients over lack of evidence. The court after hearing arguments acquitted the accused giving them the benefit of doubt.
