Sabika Sheikh laid to rest in Karachi amid tears

A number of citizens and politicians attended the funeral prayers

Karachi (Pakistan Point News – 23rd May, 2018) The Pakistani exchange student who was killed in a shooting incident in Santa Fe High School of Texas, Sabika Sheikh has been laid to rest in Karachi amid tears and mourning.

Sabika has been laid to rest in Azeem Pura graveyard of Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi on Wednesday morning.

A large number of people, including friends and relatives, attended the funeral prayers of the student. The funeral prayers were held in Hakeem Saeed Ground located at University Ground.

A number of citizens and politicians, including Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Saeed Ghani, Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) leader Mustafa Kamal attended the funeral prayers at Hakeem Saeed Ground.

Strict security arrangements were made on the occasion.

Sabika’s dead body had reached to the mourning family in Karachi via TK-708 flight of Turkish airline at 4am. The officials of Airport Security Force (ASF) paid tribute to Sabika’s dead body at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi.

American Consul General John Warner and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Faisal Vavda were also present at the airport cargo complex.

Sabika’s dead body was brought home in the form of a caravan amid security. Relatives and neighbors had arrived at Sabika’s place.

Sabika had gone to America for Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study program. She was among the ten unfortunate people, mostly students, who were killed when a 17-year-old classmate armed with a shotgun and a revolver opened fire in a Texas high school on Friday, in the latest deadly school shooting to hit the United States. The gunman, who was arrested on murder charges, was identified as Dimitrios Pagourtzis, a 17-year-old junior at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas.

Family, friends, politicians, journalists, celebrities, rights activists – all the common and known are mourning over Sabika’s death who was due to come back to Pakistan around Eid on June 9.
