Saad Rafique Directs Officers To Focus On CPEC In Policies

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23th july, 2016) : Pakistan Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique has directed the Pakistan Railways administration to make such policies for the next two years in which operational system and the China-Pak Economic Corridor (CPEC) could be focused. Chairing a meeting at Pakistan Railways Headquarters here on Saturday, he said only those projects would be given to private companies which were not directly profitable for the railways. He constituted a committee headed by Pakistan Railways Additional General Manager Traffic Maqsoodun Nabi which would prepare a report on Track Access System. The Minister said the Pakistan Railways could make a good earning source by utilising its land. He urged the administration to improve the parking system at other big railway stations like Lahore, adding that contract period should be at least three to five years.
He directed to improve cleanliness and standard of stalls at railway stations to provide economical and standard products to passengers. Khawaja urged officers to make income targets of the department for the next two years so that the Pakistan Railways could be made better and active department in future. He also directed PRACS, RailCop, and REDEMCO to present a report regarding installation and usage of old and unusable rail boggies to be converted into cafeterias which would be placed outside the railway stations. Pakistan Railways Chairperson Parveen Agha, General Manger Javaid Anwar, Advisor Anjum Perviaz and several others attended the meeting.
