River Indus in low flood at Guddu Barrage

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23th july, 2016) : All main Rivers including River Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal, except for River Indus, which is flowing in Low Flood at Guddu Barrage.

The actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1517.96 feet and 1228.10 feet respectively. It is 32.04 feet and 13.90 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.

Today's combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 10.949 MAF as compared to last year's 12.202 MAF. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, report issued here on Sunday, yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave over Northeastern Afghanistan and adjoining areas today lies over Northern parts of the country whereas Marked Seasonal Low lies over Northern Balochistan.

Moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating in upper parts of the country upto 5000 feet. The weather system is being closely monitored by the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls and windstorm may occur over the upper catchments of all major rivers including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and D.G.

Khan Divisions, besides, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan during the next 24 hours. Significant rainfall events as reported by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore during the past 24 hours including Kamra = 40 mm, Malamjabba = 24 mm, Mangla, Tarbela = 21 mm each, Ravi Syphon = 19 mm and Dhok Pathan = 13 mm.
