Provincial Lawmakers Express Reservations On New Delimitation Of Constituencies

QUETTA, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Mar, 2018 ) :Balochistan provincial assembly session was held on Saturday, which was presided over by Speaker Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani. MPAs Mir Asim Kurd Gailo, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokheil, Mir Amir Rind, Syed Muhammad Raza, Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal, Dr Hamid Khan Achakzai, Agha Syed Liaquat, Ibait Ullah Jan Babat, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch, Mir Khalid Jan Lango, Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Engineer Zamruk Khan Achakzai, Mir Izhar Hussain Khosa, Mir Muhammad Khan Lehri, Sardar Abdul Rehman Khaitran, Nasir Ullah Zehri, Hussan Bano Khushkani and Dr Shama Ishaq presented a joint resolution in the session regarding new delimitation by the Election Commission of Pakistan, which stated that the number of provincial assembly seats were not enough for Balochistan to resolve masses' problems.
Mir Asim Kurd Gailo said the number of national assembly seats of the province were inadequate. There were total 32 districts, each district should be given one national assembly seat and because provincial capital Quetta's population was more than other districts it should be divided into five Constituencies.
Speaker Raheel Hamid Durrani said members had given positive suggestions. This was a serious issue and hoped that the election commission would look into the issue. Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch said a committee consisting of parliamentary leaders should be formed regarding this issue.
The speaker while giving ruling established a committee consisting of all parliamentary leaders. Later on, the lawmakers unanimously passed this resolution. Speaker, Raheela Hamid Khan Durrani while referring to the motion moved in the last session, said that the provincial assembly session on March 15, was adjourned without completing the agenda.
Now the provincial minister for health should answer the questions asked regarding paramedics' and doctors' ongoing strike and what steps health department had taken for opening general OPDS of government hospitals. The minister answered that the strike was still going on and the department was trying to resolve the issues. The speaker adjourned the session till Tuesday, March 20.
