Political leaders, scholars pay tribute to Qazi Hussain Ahmed

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2017 ) : Political leaders and scholars Wednesday paid tributes to late leader of Jamaat e Islami Qazi Hussain Ahmed for his services for Pakistan and unity of Muslim Ummah.

Speaking at a seminar held in memory of Qazi Hussain Ahmed here, Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq said Qazi Hussain always made efforts to unite the Muslim Ummah and turn Pakistan into a welfare state.

The late leader worked to make Jamaat e Islami a popular political party, which worked for rights of masses, he added. The seminar was titled, "Stability of Democratic Institutions and Role of Political Parties".

He said the aim of politics of Qazi Hussain was to strengthen Pakistan as a democratic Islamic state. The minister said Jamaat e Islami provided a dedicated and honest cadre of political workers to the country.

The party provided a platform to youth who wanted to play their role in political system of the country, Saad Rafiq added. He said he wished Jamaat e Islami to increase its parliamentary strength in the next elections and align with parties which promote Islamic and democratic values.

Chief Jamaat e Islami Sirajul Haq said life of Qazi Hussain was a constant struggle and he was not only the leader of Jamaat e Islami but of the whole Islamic world. Qazi Hussain worked for rights of Muslims in Afghanistan, Palestine, Kashmir, Bosnia, Burma and Bangladesh, he said adding life of Qazi Hussain was a reflection of views of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

He said struggle of his party was for bridging divide between rich and poor and build a state which was free of corruption, terrorism, extremism and armed violence.

Sirajul Haq said he had no doubt in his mind that Pakistan would be transformed with an Islamic revolution, which would secure economic and social rights of deprived sections of society.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed founded the organization Pasbaan which let youth raise against oppression and acts of cruelty against weak people. Central leader of JI Prof Khursheed Ahmed told about his long association with Qazi Hussain Ahmed and said life of the late leader was embodiment of love, respect, brotherhood and devotion to his cause.

Qazi Hussain Ahmed built his life with the love of Allah and Holy Quran and worked for protection of human rights, he added. He urged that one should keep endeavouring to know Allah, his own self and develop empathy with people.

Prof Khursheed said democracy was not just about elections but it was about rule of law and solving of problems with mutual consultation. Asif Luqman Qazi, son of Qazi Hussain Ahmed said his father worked for social justice in Pakistan, adding fruits of democratic system still needed to reach the common man.

He said Qazi Hussain Ahmed wanted people from different schools of thought to sit together and find solutions to problems faced by society. Eminent scholar Khursheed Nadeem said main contributions of Qazi Hussain was that he rose above sectarian differences and promoted the concept of Islamic solidarity.
