Police Offficials Fail To Answer CM's Questions About Girl's Rape

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 27th Jul, 2017 ) : Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday convened a meeting regarding raping of girls on the order of a so-called Punchayat at Violence Against Women Center (VAWC) in Multan.
The chief minister asked questions from police authorities during the meeting and police officials could not answers the same. Shehbaz Sharif said had police been awakening then such heinous crimes would not have happened.
Replying to a question when RPO Multan said that the area was far away from police station, the chief minister said was this village situated on Mars or any other planet.
The chief minister said sitting of the so-called Punchayat and its decision for raping of innocent girls was not a small crime.
The first girl was raped on July 16 and the second one on the night between July 17 and 18, but the case was registered on July 24, some eight days after the the first incident. Provincial Minister Hameeda Waheeduddin, IG Police Punjab, Secretary Prosecution, members of the National and Provincial Assemblies and officials concerned were also present.
