PEAD organizes training on 'devising early warning mechanism for community based women groups'

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th May, 2017 ) : Women representatives of different faiths at a training workshop pledged to work together for peace, social cohesion and defuse problems of their communities in a unified manner.

The training session was organized by Peace education and development (PEAD) Foundation under project 'Women Peace Builders Network' here on Friday. Theme of the workshop was 'Devising early warning mechanism for community based women groups', which was aimed to enable these women to promote peace, harmony and tolerance in their respective communities and help prevent conflicts before it happens.

Around 60 women from different union councils of Peshawar including Tahkal Bala and Nothia attended the workshop. The participants were informed ways to access, collect and channelize the information from different sources to prevent any unfavorable incident in their localities.

On the occasion master trainer Deputy Director Directorate of Human Rights Akbar Khan highlighted procedures to protect human rights, prevention of violence against women and to access the relevant officials of human rights directorate, in case of any violation of their rights.

Deputy Director Social Welfare Department Shoaib informed the participants about the initiatives of government being carried out for the welfare of public. He also shared the helpline number with the participants to contact, in case of any problem.

While addressing the audience, Superintendent Police Sajjad Khan said that KP police is striving to protect people regardless of their faith or cast. He said minorities particularly women should immediately contact police if they or their community members face any problem.

Addressing the occasion PEAD Coordinator Shagufta Khalique said we want to enable common women to resolve their problems by themselves and sensitize communities for peace, tolerance and interfaith harmony. 'These women can play an instrumental role in helping their communities in difficult situations' she added.
