PDMA Holds Seminar To Discuss Disaster Management In Provinces

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 19th Jan, 2018 ) :Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab Friday organised a seminar with Project Director (PIU-PDMA) Hameed Ullah Malik and Project Coordinator (PIU-PDMA) Nisar Ahmed Sani in the chair, here to improve disaster resilience at provincial level.
The event was organised for information sharing and interactive sessions with officers from a number of government departments including district administration Jhang. Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Jhang Mudassar Riaz Malik thanked PDMA Punjab for undertaking a province-wide initiative to improve disaster resilience.
He said gathering of all respected partners from government, media, and civil society would lay a solid foundation for a proactive approach to disaster response in Punjab.
"PDMA's effort for Multi Hazard Vulnerability & Risk Assessment (MHVRA) in 20 districts of Punjab is appreciable," he added.
Welcoming the participants on the occasion, Project Director (PIU-PDMA) Hameed Ullah Malik called the seminar an example of PDMA's efforts to serve as a central coordination body for disaster relief in the province.
Project Coordinator (PIU-PDMA), Nisar Ahmed Sani revealed that PDMA Punjab was implementing a tested and proven strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Disaster Risk Management (DRM) in the province.
