Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the train and a trial run will be held from Dera Gujran to Lakshmi Chowk, Lahore
Lahore (Pakistan Point News – 16th May, 2018) The much anticipated project of the Punjab Government Orange Line train will undergo a trial run today, Wednesday.
Regular operations of the train would however begin from September this year.
Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif will inaugurate the train and a trial run will be held from Dera Gujran to Lakshmi Chowk, Lahore.
The Punjab chief minister will be briefed about the project in a ceremony going to be held after the inauguration.
Lahore Development Authority Chief Engineer Mazhar Hussain, project director and contractor company officials will also be present on the occasion along Shehbaz Sharif to see the train undergo a trial run. Other than, banners welcoming the Chinese officials who had been working on the project have also been pasted across the city.
The Orange Line Metro Train Project has been a landmark yet controversial project of the incumbent Punjab government as reports regarding corruption in the project kept surfacing during the course of its construction.
Moreover, considering the political turmoil in the country, there had been apprehensions that the project would not be completed before elections and the city would be left with broken roads and incomplete construction. However, the first metro train of Pakistan will undergo a trial run today.
