Opposition In Sindh Assembly Stages Token Walkout

KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 18th Apr, 2017 ) : The opposition members in Sindh Assembly Tuesday staged a token walkout over not inclusion of issues of public importance in the agenda.

Leader of Opposition Khawaja Izharul Hassan showed two bottles filled with, what he said, contaminated and poisonous drinking water, which was being supplied in Sukkur. Lamenting the apathy of the provincial government over water and for not forming business Advisory Committee (BAC), he said that office of the Speaker does not include their motions in the agenda and get rid of them.

He said that his adjournment motion was also rejected. He also alleged the Speaker for favouring the treasury members.

The Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani reacting to his comment said, "I do not take dictation for the government and just following the rules." He said that the adjournment motion has been rejected on the basis of rules because it does not meet the criteria.

He advised the opposition leader to sit with treasury benches to sort out matters on the advisory committee. He further said that he keeps waiting for members to appear on the floor of the house with important issues in the agenda but they arrived late.

Sindh Senior Minister for food and Parliamentary Affairs Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said that the provincial government has nothing to do with forming the BAC.
