Islamabad, , (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2017 ) :The National Assembly Monday passed a bill to establish a National University of Technology along with research facilities at the national level for promoting applied research, development and training.
State Minister for Science and Technology Mir Dostain Domki presented the bill namely the National University of Technology Bill, 2017 which was passed by the House. This proposed university will ensure certification of a large segment of youth in the relevant fields and qualifications needed by the economy for knowledge and technology based productivity driven rapid and sustainable economic development.
Meanwhile, the House passed another bill the Law and Justice Commission of Pakistan (Amendment) Bill, 2017. Parliamentary Secretary for Finance Rana Afzal presented report on the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power (Amendment) Bill, 2017.
On behalf of the Chairman Standing Committee on States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON), a member of the Committee Tahira Auarngzeb presented report on the Rulers of Acceding Sates (Abolition of Privy Purses and Privileges) (Amendment) Bill, 2017.
On behalf of the Chairman Sanding Committee on Science and Technology, a member of the Committee Shaista Pervez presented report on the National University of Technology Bill, 2017. Female lawmakers in the House including Shaista Pervez, Shazia Marri, Saman Sultana Jafferi, Munaza Hassan, Asia Naz and Perveen Masood Bhatti condemned tragic incident of assaulting teenage girl in Dera Ismail Khan.
They demanded strict action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime. Earlier, the sitting remained suspended for 30 minutes due to lack of quorum pointed by PTI female lawmaker Shireen Mazari. The Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abassi adjourned the House to meet again on Tuesday at 1600 hours.
