NA Body For Establishing Mechanism To Register Orphans,

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Jan, 2017 ) : The National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights on Wednesday asked for preparing a concrete and solid mechanism for registration of orphans and homeless children.
The mechanism was necessary to ensure their safety and fundamental human rights, as well as to check that they should not fall into hands of terrorists, it observed. The committee, which met here under the chairmanship of Baber Nawaz Khan, recommended that proper legislation should be done for the registration of such children who lost their parents and complete data should be compiled that who was living with relatives, orphanages, guardians or with any other as it was the state's responsibility to take care of them.
Kishwar Zehra informed the body that she had already submitted a comprehensive bill on the issue in the National Assembly, which unfortunately had not yet been taken up. She requested the committee to give its recommendation for the consideration of the bill by the NA at the earliest.
As a special invitee, Pattern-in-Chief Pakistan Sweet Homes Zummrad Khan also attended the meeting and briefed the committee about the child beggars' issue and their effect on the society if it was not addressed properly.
The committee recommended that the government might grant sufficient funds to Ministry of Human Rights for Child Protection Centre so they should upgrade their resources and equip themselves according to international level facilities for such minor children.
Earlier, the committee discussed violations of human rights in Indian Held Kashmir (IHK). An official of Ministry of Foreign Affairs briefed the committee about the government policy on the Kashmir issue.
The NA body recommended that a more effective policy should be adopted to highlight the issue and directed the government to take steps for raising atrocities and brutalities of Indian armed forces on innocent Kashmiri population at international forums.
The meeting was attended by MNAs Sahibzada Muhammad Yaqub, Sayed Essa Nori, Begum Tahira Bukhari, Farhana Qamar, Phyllis Azeem, Surriya Asghar, Kiran Haider, Asiya Naz Tanoli, Zahra Wadood Fatemi, Dr.
Shazia Sobia, Musarat Rafique Mahesar, Munaza Hassan, Sajid Nawaz and Kishwer Zehra, senior officers from the Ministry of Human Rights and the representatives from ministry of Foreign Affairs and Islamabad Police officials.
