Meeting Discusses Marriage Function Ord-2016 Implementation

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th May, 2017 ) : A special monitoring committee, constituted by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, to ensure effective implementation of the Punjab Marriage Function Ordinance 2016 at all levels, met under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Punjab Shamail Ahmad Khawaja, at Civil Secretariat, here on Thursday.
The meeting decided to constitute a sub-committee comprising Commissioner Lahore Division Abdullah Khan Sumbal, Special Secretary Local Government Punjab Shahid Nasr Raja and SP Security Ibadat Nisar, which will look into the complaints regarding violation of the ordinance, fix responsibility and recommend action against the inefficient officials on case-to-case basis.
The meeting decided that sub-committees would also be constituted in all divisional headquarters of the province to effectively implement the marriage function Ordinance. Shamail Khawaja said on the occasion that there should be no discrimination between ordinary people and the residents of posh areas in this regard.
He said the police should arrest owners of marriage halls and catering managers on account of violations like over-timing, firing into the air, sound system and serving more than one dish, which is prohibited under the Law. All senior officials concerned attended the meeting.
